Testimonials
I've been going to Camp ever since 2000 and I must admit, the more I come, the better it seems to get. Whenever I'm on my way there, my life seems to be filled with all these little problems and concerns that hack at my brain. At Camp all of that is out the window and I am lost in the moment of simplicity, beauty and friendship. I return home feeling content and full of wisdom. I intend to take all of my friends to it at some point - I'd recommend the place to anybody!

I've been to NeeKauNis twice now for Family Camp. It's hard to know where to begin with the praise. Between the delightful kitchen staff and the amazing sunsets there is a lot to choose from. I think mostly though it is about a community of people who I have been lucky enough to get to know. One would be hard pressed to find an other environment filled with so much love and respect.

What I gained at Work Camp is immensely more valuable than money: community, friendship, service, song, and skills. I hope I always remember the feeling of community I had at camp, sharing meals, and chores, as well as having fun swimming, kayaking, running, and windsurfing. The most important thing is that we shared! […] Community seems to provide so much and take so little. I’ll remember how the exact time and day didn't matter anymore. Judging what time it was could adequately be measured by the sun's position in the sky. I'll remember being immersed in God's Creation as I felt the cool breeze, the warm sun, and heard the rustle of the trees from the wind blowing off the bay. For one week, I made something: something for others, something greater than myself with meaning beyond my own lifetime. It is a good feeling. I hope to have it more often!

For me Camp is a sort if safe house. It is as if the sign that says "no cares and woes beyond this point" stops all the trouble from entering, like a dream catcher. Camp is a place of love, hope and freedom. People who have never been to camp before don't understand why, for example, we sit on the hill for half an hour. It is a spiritual thing that can't be understood unless you are open to it. Camp brings an indestructible sense of community. Those who love Camp while they are at Camp are at one, in a way. It might be cheesy but for me Camp is my spiritual home where I can really be myself.

I love Camp profoundly. It has changed my life in ways both unexpected and magical. A true place of love, acceptance and peace. I don't get to visit as I’d like but hopefully that will change this summer. Thanks to everyone who’s made NeeKauNis such a special place.

Camp was a place where I could feel at home among my peers, where I was part of a tight knit group which wasn't my family. It's not really true to say it was the first time I'd had such an experience, but the camaraderie felt [...] was on a whole different order of magnitude than anything that had come before. Of course, the beautiful, isolated setting was just as important as the people who inhabited it.

I love camp because it feels like home. It is so simple, and full of peace and love. Although it's been years since I've been there, I feel like it is a place that will always welcome me with her friendly arms. I love the people - the new friends and the dear old friends. We share a bond that is strong and beautiful. Oh... and the food is great!!

Camp NeeKauNis is a place where I go to be loved, and love all that nature has to offer. A relaxing place where I can be myself and know that I have friends. I always find a great balance between having a friendly conversation by the lake, getting to know someone new while I do the dishes, and visiting the kitchen and borrowing a nicely cooked oatmeal cookie. Camp is simply a place where I relax and reconnect with myself.

At Family Camp we co-create a circle of mutual care and sustenance. The gentle, restorative cadence of our days together washes over us, young, middle-aged, and old, as it relaxes our bodies, calms our minds, and renews our spirits. It is the perfect place for me to share special moments and create enduring memories with my grandchildren.

Looking forward to NeeKauNis every year is like looking forward to Christmas, except that I would give up two Christmases for one extra week per year at Camp. I love this place so much that I hope I will end up here even when I pass away. NeeKauNis Forever, Infinite Love.
